Cliff Mautner mentions on his blog that the new 85mm performs much better than the old version, and wins hands down. Based on these samples alone, the new lens does look promising.
Even Bjorn (here and here) commented that it’s one of the best lenses that he has tested, giving it a maximum rating of 5 on FX as well as DX.
After the announcement of the new Nikon D3100 and 4 new lenses, the internet has been full of comments, as well as complaints, and sample images taken with the new lenses/camera.
Check out Bob Krist’s samples on his blog taken with the AFS 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 where he had a prototype to test in February. He mentions that it’s “sharp all the way out to 300mm” despite it being a superzoom, unlike the 18-200 for DX where quite a number of users …
Nikon has just announced a new entry-level body, and 4 new lenses to its legendary Nikkor lineup.

Some of the places that we will be visiting include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong son, Mae Salong, Mae Sai, the Golden Triangle, some local villages and primary schools. Sounds like there will be tonnes of photo opportunities.
Equipment that I will be bringing:
The 18-55 standard kit lens has about 3x zoom. Its benefits are, it is wide and long enough for covering a wide range of photography styles, and its weight makes it easy to carry around. Some limitations include insufficient range and the unsuitability for indoor photography…

What do the numbers 1:3.5-5.6 on my lenses mean? They refer to the minimum aperture values that your lenses can go. The lower the aperture value, the more “blurred” effect (bokeh) you can achieve for your background, which means better isolation of the subject. On the other hand, the higher the value, the larger your Depth of Field will become and …
